Valentine's Day is right around the corner, and there's nothing better than receiving (or giving!) sweet treats during this time. This Valentine, make mini cakes that are just as pretty as a jewel using cake gem molds! These molds have sharp lines creating a geometric pattern that makes the cake look like a pretty gemstone. We'll be sharing with you how to make heart cake gems in this post, but these silicone molds are versatile enough to make other Valentine's treat ideas like heart-shaped hot chocolate bombs or mousse cakes.
Happy creating! 💝

Ingredients & Supplies:
- Chocolate or candy melt
- Cake pop filling: crumble homemade or store-bought cake & mix with frosting until you get a dough-like consistency
- Optional: sprinkles or other toppings to decorate!
- Heart geometric mold
Instructions:
- Start by making your cake mixture. Crumble a pre-made or store-bought cake into small pieces and add a spoonful of frosting. Mix together until the cake & frosting mixture has a consistency similar to cookie dough. Tip: you can also crumble pre-made cupcakes, brownies, donuts or crushed up cookies to make the filling.
- After the cake mixture is ready, melt in the microwave your chocolate or candy melts in 30 sec. intervals, stirring in between until it's completely melted & smooth.
- Using a spoon or brush, add a layer of chocolate to the heart-shaped molds, making sure to cover the edges and sides.
- Refrigerate the chocolate for ~10-15 min., or until the chocolate is hardened.
- Take the mold out of the fridge and fill the hardened chocolate shell with the cake pop mixture. Make sure to pack the cake mixture down tightly.
- Add one last layer of chocolate to cover the cake filling mixture and smooth out the top.
- Refrigerate for another ~15-20 min. or until the chocolate is completely set.
- Give the mold a stretch to loosen the chocolate and pop your heart cake gems out of the mold. Shave off any excess chocolate around the sides and decorate with chocolate drizzles and sprinkles. Enjoy!💕
